I know you must be talking to Doug about objects right now. Have you read Mark Doty's "Still Life with Oysters and Lemon"?
Doug mentioned that he wanted to show you our papers.

i can't agree more with your thoughts on getting students together socially more. if we had had the night out (or whatever) early in the year, i think my personal participation in critiques would have been much more comfortable and plentiful. that might just be me though.

the field trip in photo in the field was amazingly experience and really helpful too.

Buddy and Ritche were found only a few feet from the plane, while the pilot was still inside the wreckage. The Big Bopper was found much further from the plane - starting the rumor that he might have survived the crash and was going for help.

JP Richardson's' son had the body exhumed to put that rumor to rest once and for all. Plus, as the article said, there was no autopsy for the Bopper.

The sell of the casket is an attempt to fund a movie for the Big Bopper.

If you had researched the history of this crash at all, you might not be so arrogant towards the Boppers son, but it's obvious that you did not - but now you know ...

wow.. that is actually pretty impressive. I always thought of Bose speakers as being quite good. Now hearing these I question that. Its pretty amazing that you can tell the difference just over a voice recording too.

As for AM and FM, you guys are absolutely right. AM sounds much different than FM. AM (amplitude modulation) is a technically inferior way to transmit audio when compared to FM (frequency modulation) and thats why it sounds so different. You could almost think of it as an 8-bit image vs a 16-bit image on the computer. The 16-bit (FM) image has WAAAAY more tonal and dynamic range than the 8-bit. So essentially the FM method is capable of transmitting a bunch more tones which leads to more pleasing sound!

With AM, the amplitude or peak and trough of the waves is increased and decreased to give you different channels, where in FM, the frequency or number of those waves is increased or decreased to create different FM channels. The tuner on your radio just changes to listed to these changes and that's how you can zero in on different stations.

sorry im rambling about probably useless info. I use to be quite the audiophile. I think if I didn't get into photography, I would certainly have considered audio engineering! So interesting.

I laughed a lot at this entry. I have a love-hate relationship with Facebook. I swore I would never have an account because I had a bad Myspace experience (I know, right? But that's a completely different story), but my best friend made me one and I kept getting emails saying all these long-lost friends were adding me, so I broke down and started managing my account myself. It's evil, but still alluring and addicting like so many evil things.

I do sound like I'm on the brink of being a serial killer from that story. To be fair though, I don't rush anyone through anything and I give them all the time they need to psych themselves up for "the pour." It's stressful for me as well because I never know how the person will react or if the shot will turn out like I'm envisioning. Thank you everyone who has participated!

Nigel I am giggling at the idea of the CHP placing plants in a coffee shop. However, I once worked at a coffee shop off I80 in Dixon, and had 2 regular CHP officer customers. They told me that a good 80% of CHP won't pull you over if you are going between 66-80 if when you see them you slow down. Because it means you are paying attention, and driver who pay attention don't cause accidents. However, I also know for a fact that going faster than 70mph on highway 113 is a bad idea. The officers on that stretch seem to be hard and fast and will pull you over. period. Some even with pull you for going 68, silly as it seems it is true. I5 is another story entirely though.

I think this is a fabulous project and I am glad I will still get to hear your voice though I no longer get to see you daily.

Tampering with mail is wilfully opening, destroying, damaging, or taking into possession without the express or implied consent of the sender or addressee a postcard, letter, package, envelope or parcel entrusted by the sender to another for delivery to a third person. Tampering with mail is a category three misdemeanor. hahaha
